New Orleans Affordable Dental Implants

If you’re not satisfied with the discomfort, slippage and inconvenience that are common with traditional dentures, but multiple implants to secure them are not within your budget, you might be interested in learning about another option. New Orleans cosmetic dentist Dr. Duane Delaune offers affordable dental implants.

One way to make the cost more affordable without sacrificing quality care is to use fewer implants. Instead of using, say, six implants to hold your denture, a snap-on denture can be supported by only two dental implants, which will save greatly on the cost. For each of the implants, a root form is surgically implanted in your jawbone. After the jawbone heals around the root forms, the dentures are snapped onto them. You no longer have to be concerned that the dentures will slip in your mouth or fall out.

But there is another important advantage with snap-on dentures. When all of your teeth are missing, your jawbone senses that it’s no longer needed to support your teeth, so your body begins to dissolve the jawbone. Since the jawbone contributes to the shape of your face, as it dissolves, your face will begin to sag and facial collapse is unavoidable. Also, dentures that only rest on the gums, and are not supported by implants, put pressure on the jawbone and accelerate the bone loss. Dental implants—snap-on dentures—help prevent facial collapse.

All Dental Implants Are Not Equal

It’s understandable that your budget might restrict the number of implants that you receive, but be very cautious about looking for the lowest cost. Implant mistakes can be even more costly. If the dental implants are not correctly placed, it can lead to implants that loosen, nerve impairment or an infection.

Dr. Delaune has received post-graduate training in implantology from the Zimmer Institute and Russo Seminars. He will ensure that your dental implants are correctly placed, so that you can maintain good oral health. Dr. Delaune is also an accreditation candidate of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. When it comes to smiles—even with dentures—he is an artist. So your smile will be beautiful and natural looking.
