And you don\u2019t have to experience them all to have a TMJ disorder. You might be experiencing one or more of the following signs or symptoms:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Pain in or around your ear<\/li><li>Chronic headaches<\/li><li>Chronic earaches<\/li><li>Tinnitus (ringing in your ears)<\/li><li>Chronic neck pain<\/li><li>Difficulty opening and closing your mouth<\/li><li>Clicking or popping noises when you open your\nmouth<\/li><li>Jaw clenching<\/li><li>Jaw pain or soreness that is worse in the\nmorning or late afternoon<\/li><li>Jaw pain when you chew, bite or yawn<\/li><li>Tender jaw muscles<\/li><li>Sensitivity in your teeth <\/li><li>Bruxism (grinding your teeth)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Are the Signs and Symptoms of an Ear Infection?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Although you may not be experiencing all of them, common signs and symptoms of an ear infection in adults include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ear pain<\/li><li>Fluid draining from the ear<\/li><li>Impaired hearing<\/li><li>Fullness in the ear<\/li><li>Nausea<\/li><li>Dizziness<\/li><li>In severe cases, a stiff neck and\/or fever<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you think you have TMJ, schedule an appointment with a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/delaunedental.com\/new-orleans-tmj-dentist.html\" target=\"_blank\">dentist who has advanced training in the disorder<\/a>. He or she will examine your teeth, jaw, and bite to make the determination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Will It Be\nTreated?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If you have TMJ, a customized mouthguard will be\nrecommended for you to wear while you sleep. It will relax your jaw and prevent\nbruxism, which is often related to TMJ. <\/li><li>Relaxation and jaw exercises might be\nrecommended to help relax the muscles.<\/li><li>It can also help to alternately apply hot and cold\npacks to the side of your face where the muscles are sore.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What If Your Symptoms Don&#8217;t Match TMJ?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even\nif you don\u2019t think you have TMJ, chronic ear pain should not be ignored. An untreated\ninfection can spread and permanently affect your hearing and balance. You\nshould schedule an appointment with your primary care doctor.
