How Six Month Smiles Works

Photos are courtesy of Six Month Smiles®While traditional orthodontic treatment is best for aligning all of your teeth and correcting your bite, these clear braces are an alternative if you want a faster smile makeover without traditional orthodontic treatment. The focus of these braces is to align the teeth that show when you smile. They are designed for short-term treatment to precisely, but gently move your teeth to the correct position. Treatment is completed in an average of six months, but treatment time can range between four and nine months.

Dr. Delaune will examine, x-ray, and take impressions of your teeth. The information he gathers will be sent to the processing facility for the braces, where customized, clear braces will be made for you. Bonding trays will also be made to allow Dr. Delaune to quickly and easily bond the braces to your teeth.

When your braces are ready, you will return to our office to have them bonded onto your teeth. After your braces are placed, you will have an appointment every four weeks for Dr. Delaune to check your progress and make adjustments to the braces. At the end of your treatment—in an average of six months—you will have a beautifully aligned smile.

As with traditional orthodontics, when your treatment is completed, you will need to wear a retainer to maintain your new smile. You can choose to wear a removable retainer, or you may prefer to have one bonded to the inside of your teeth.

• These braces, with clear brackets and tooth-colored wires, are bonded to your teeth, while Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners that you can remove. Many dentists feel that being able to remove the aligners can delay treatment time.
