Can I get Lumineers over my caps?

Posted on December 26, 2013 by AllSmiles.

I have old caps on my teeth. They are totally worn down. I like the look of Lumineers over caps. Can I get Lumineers put over the caps? Hanah

Hanah,

Lumineers, or porcelain veneers, cannot be placed over crowns, or caps. Lumineers are bonded to your natural teeth.

When you receive a dental crown, your tooth is shaved down to accommodate it. Once you receive crowns, you are unable to receive veneers. But you can visit a skilled cosmetic dentist who will provide you with new crowns that look so beautiful and natural that people will think they are your natural teeth.

Schedule consultations with a few cosmetic dentists to discuss your treatment options.

Lumineers to get my Hollywood smile?

Posted on August 29, 2013 by AllSmiles.

I am looking at some celebrity photos and their teeth look the perfect size and very white. Did some of them have to get lumineers to get a smile like that or could teeth whitening do it? I want the same kind of Hollywood smile. – Ariel

Ariel – Lumineers, a brand of porcelain veneers, can make your teeth their whitest and look larger, but they may not be the best option for you. In fact, you may not need porcelain veneers at all to make your teeth look larger and whiter.

If you are thinking about getting a smile makeover, see a cosmetic dentist. If your gumline is low on your teeth, it can make them look smaller. Gum contouring can be done to reduce the size of your gumline and make your teeth look larger.

Teeth whitening from a cosmetic dentist can get your teeth brilliantly white.

We can’t recommend any treatment for you without an examination, but visit an experienced cosmetic dentist to find out your options for enhancing your smile.

Which is better Lumineers or Veneers?

Posted on February 27, 2013 by AllSmiles.

I have 4 front teeth with heavy stains on them. Between Lumineers and Veneers which is better? Pros and cons? – Amber

Amber – Lumineers are veneers. Lumineers is just one brand name of porcelain veneers. There are many other brand  names of porcelain veneers. Lumineers are ultra-thin, very hard, and are often placed with no preparation to the teeth.

There are other brands of porcelain veneers that are just as thin and durable as Lumineers. Lumineers has a lab that makes their porcelain veneers, and many dentists feel that the results are not personalized to the patient.

There are cosmetic dentists who prefer other brands of porcelain veneers, because they get better results with them. These dentists have a private master ceramist who personalizes the veneers to the individual patient. The result is that you can’t tell the difference between the veneers and your natural teeth.

Speak with an experienced cosmetic dentist regarding your particular situation to determine which brand of porcelain veneers is best for your case.

Looking for cosmetic dentist to do Lumineers

Posted on May 29, 2012 by AllSmiles.

I had two consultations with cosmetic dentists for Lumineers and I don’t like the pictures that they showed me. I thought that most of the patients teeth in the pictures looked bulky. How can I find a cosmetic dentist who will do a beautiful job with Lumineers.  Marianne R. from New Orleans

Marianne – Lumineers are popular, partially because there a lot of advertisements for them. There are other brands of porcelain veneers that are also ultra-thin and strong, but won’t produce the bulky look that you mentioned.

You can find an artistic cosmetic dentist through the website mynewsmile.com.

Some cosmetic dentists criticize the lab that makes Lumineers because the end result is often bulky, and it doesn’t look natural. Although a skilled cosmetic dentist might use a different brand of porcelain veneers, he or she will use a private master ceramist who will customize the veneers to fit your facial features and personality. Many cosmetic dentists have a beautiful smile guarantee, which means that your veneers will be adjusted or completely re-done until you love your smile makeover.

Because Lumineers are known for potentially looking bulky and having a pasty color, if you insist on having on them, you might be disappointed with the results.
