Types of Dental Emergencies
Toothache
If you have a lingering toothache, a filling might need to be replaced. Or, the tooth or gums may be irritated or infected. Dr. Delaune will determine the cause of the toothache and the appropriate treatment, whether it’s a filling, antibiotics, a root canal or some other treatment.
Toothaches are most often caused by an infection in the pulp of the tooth. So, it’s most likely that you’ll need a root canal treatment, which is not as scary as you might have been told. Although you won’t receive a root canal during the emergency visit, Dr. Delaune will get you out of pain today, so he can identify the case of your toothache and recommend the appropriate treatment.
Broken or Chipped Tooth
A broken or chipped tooth can often be restored with dental bonding in about an hour. If you have it, bring the broken portion of the tooth with you to our office. Dr. Delaune is an expert cosmetic dentist, so he will bond it back in place, and people won’t be able to tell that the tooth was chipped or broken. If you don’t have the broken piece, he can match the color and surface texture of the missing parts of the tooth with composite bonding material.
